SMS / Text Message Communications

Donald Leo & Associates, P.C. may, with your prior written consent, communicate with you by SMS or MMS text messages at the mobile telephone number you provide to us. We use text messaging solely for purposes directly related to your legal representation, including:

  • Appointment reminders (independent medical exams, doctor visits, depositions, court dates, and meetings with the Firm)
  • Time-sensitive case updates
  • Requests for information or documents needed to advance your case
  • Confirmation of appointments you have already scheduled.

Consent. We send text messages only to individuals who have signed our SMS Communication Consent form. Consent is not a condition of being represented by the Firm.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on the activity in your case. On average, you should expect no more than several messages per month, with additional messages when your matter requires urgent communication.

Charges. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. The Firm does not charge you for the messages it sends.

Opting out. You may opt out of receiving text messages from the Firm at any time by replying “STOP” to any text message you receive from us. You will receive a one-time confirmation, after which no further text messages will be sent. Opting out of text messages does not affect your legal representation; the Firm will continue to contact you by telephone, email, or U.S. mail regarding your case.

Help. You may obtain help at any time by replying “HELP” to any message you receive from the Firm, or by calling the Firm at (631) 698-2000 during regular business hours.

Third parties. The Firm will not share your mobile telephone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We use Twilio Inc. as our SMS messaging vendor; messages you receive are transmitted through Twilio’s network in accordance with Twilio’s Privacy Policy (https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy).

Changes to your number. Please notify the Firm in writing if your mobile telephone number changes so that text messages do not reach an unintended recipient.
